The Farmer's Wife Quilt

I am fascinated by this quilt. It consists of 111, 6 in. blocks. It will by my long term project for awhile. I have decided to do it in batiks. So, I ordered the book, "The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt",by Lauren Aaron Bird, from Amazon. The book comes with letters from farmer's wives, along with pictures of all 111 blocks. It also comes with a cd, which I use to print out the templates. I do not have a time limit on this one, and will probably work on other things also. So, here we go, my new project. Here are the first 9 blocks. They are 1. Attic Windows. 2. Autumn Tints, 3. Basket, 4. Basket Weave, 5. Bat Wing, 6. Big Dipper, 7. Birds in the Air, 8. Bouquet, 9. Box. I will try to add pictures as I go along from this point. Hope you enjoy this new journey with me.

WORKING FOR LACELADY

This is a top belonging to a friend in Ireland, Lesley. Her hand work is just wonderful. It is on it's last leg of a year long journey around the world, and I have the honor of designing, and sewing the last border on. I will then mail this beautiful piece of art work back home to Ireland. Also a couple of pictures of the things I have designed to use in this last border. I have spent the last year, working on 12 different quilts from around the world, and it has been a wonderful expierence for me. It is like raising children, and then turning them loose in the world. I will do this again, but will take off this next year to catch up on my own work. LOL. I hope all of you have enjoyed seeing these quilts come to life.

CAROL DOAKS PAPER PIECED QUILT TOP

This is the first paper pieced top I have made. I learned from watching Carol Doaks DVD. She makes it so simple to learn, and to understand. This block is taken from Carol Doaks book 40 BRIGHT & BOLD PAPER PIECED BLOCKS. This one is named Beth's block, which just happens to be my middle name LOL. This is also the first top that I have used a wide border with. I planned this top around the beautiful rose covered material. and have named it Ninnie's Rose Garden. I am now in the planning stages for my second PP quilt. But have to finish the Buggy Wheels first. Please let me know what you thing of this one. I am so insecure when it comes to PP still. LOL

MAKING A BUGGY WHEELS QUILT

Here is what I have been working on for the last month. I wanted to go back to doing some old fashioned piecing, before I forgot how LOL. . So,k I decided to do a pattern with values only. This patern is called Buggy Wheels, and can be found at the Buggy Barn, I got mine from a Book , AMERICAN QUILT LOVERS FAVORITES, VOLUME 10. So, off tho the scrap chest I went, and choose Darks and Lights. It is made up of dark on dark hst, and dark on light hst. Once I had all the hst made, I palced the dark on dark in one bag, and the dark on light in another. Then I pulled a handful from each bag, and let them fall where they would. I now have 12 blocks done, and 8 more to go. Each of thse blocks are an 16 in square, with 102 pieces. It is a great way to use up those scraps. Would love hearing from any of you who decide to make one.

INTERNATIONAL ROUND ROBIN

Here is my World Center after the third round. This latest work was done by a sewing group of ladies in Spain. I love the way they interpreted the center. and the old fashioned pattern of Dresten Plates that they used. They also embroidered Sewing Notions in each corner, with the manes of them in Spanish, How cool is that???
